March 15Hubby and I taught Children’s Chapel at church today. By some odd coincidence, the population of children in the church ages 3-Kindergarten has dwindled. A few years ago, it was not uncommon to have 10 or 15 kids in Children’s Chapel. Today we had 4, and 50% of them were our own children (Peter is technically too old, but attends on days when we teach so that he is not left in church alone!). The room that we use is one of the pre-school classrooms for our church school. The lesson today was about Jesus driving the money-changers from the temple.

Because the Bible story and related craft activity (today it was a drawing) can hold the childrens’ attention for only so long, the last part of our time together is generally spent in free play using the toys in the classroom. Today, Jacob discovered these 2 sets of castanets. Being a boy, he found a use for them other than their intended use as musical instruments. One set of castanets ate the other. Then they went to the toy kitchen where Peter was “fixing breakfast” and ate all his toy food too.
