May 31Summer vacation is still 5 days away, but we got a head start by spending the afternoon at Mammoth Lake. The boys (shown here with a friend) had fun snorkeling and swimming, while Hubby and I got in a refresher scuba dive. We didn’t see much — a huge underwater tree and a few fish — but it was good to get in and blow some bubbles.

May 29Jacob really should have been in Pre-K this year. But his teacher at his Montessori school thought he was ready to handle some more challenging work, so he was placed in kindergarten this year. Last night was his graduation ceremony. Even though he will repeat kindergarten at the public elementary next year, it was nice for him to have a chance to celebrate with his classmates before moving on to a new school. Here he is receiving his diploma and a gift from his wonderful teacher, Ms. Olga.

May 28I went to Dream Dinners with some friends on Thursday night. Not only did we have a great time, but the freezer is now stocked with lots of yummy, healthy meals.

May 27On Wednesday night, the boys decided to take advantage of the good weather and go play football in the backyard. Doesn’t Peter look like he could get an endorsement with this picture? What a stud.

I am behind in posting my photos because this is the season of the year when Hubby is working madly to finish all of his papers and PowerPoint presentations for upcoming speeches that he is giving. Because he is hard at work, I don’t have access the computer where all of my photo files are stored. That means I can’t upload my pictures to the blog. I’ll try to get caught up tomorrow. Thanks for your patience!

May 26My kids love to read. Their noses are quite often buried in books. And while it can be frustrating that they’re sometimes slow to get ready for school or start their chores, one (very large) part of me is glad that they like to spend their time that way. Don’t get me wrong; they also like to spend time playing video games and playing outside, but books get equal time in our house.

I regularly clean out our book stash and donate them to Goodwill or Half-Price Books. But we still always have a bumper crop of books. A couple of years ago, my father-in-law built a bookshelf for the boys. It helps keep the book chaos in the living room under control. While I would love it if the bookshelf were neatly organized, I’m just glad all those books are not strewn across the floor.

Now if only I could get Starbucks to open a cafe right inside my house, we’d be all set!
