Father’s Day Gift…Part Deux

July 3You may remember that we went to buy a nice road bike for Hubby for Father’s Day, but they didn’t have the model we wanted in his size, so we had to order it. Well, as it turns out, Cannondale currently has their production line set up for mountain bikes, not road bikes, so we were looking at a wait of 1-2 months for the bike we want.

The shop called all over the country looking for the bike we wanted. We thought we had found one in Plano, but, unfortunately, they had just sold it in the last few days. What are the chances?!

So, on Friday, Hubby and I trekked back to the bike shop to make an alternate–and, of course, more expensive–selection. Two hours later, we left with a Cannondale Carbon 6 bike, a bike rack for the truck, a floor stand, a helmet, a pair of padded shorts, and bike shoes with cleats that clip into the pedals. Thankfully, they had the Carbon 6 on sale, so the differential between what we had already paid for the Synapse 7 and this bike was not too hard to swallow.

They put Hubby’s bike on a training stand so he could learn how to work the cleats in the pedals and they could get everything adjusted properly. Here is a shot of him in the mirror. I love this picture because if you look on the left-hand side of the photo, it looks like Lance Armstrong in his yellow jersey is about to run over Hubby’s back wheel. Lance is a cardboard cut-out on the wall, but he looks 3-D in the picture. Had I noticed that when I took the photo, I would have maneuvered for a better shot!
