Houston is prone to violent mood swings with the weather.  Yesterday was hot.  We decided to stave off the warmth with a Skywalker Smoothie.  Come see what we did over at Wookiee Cooks.

October 25This morning, Hubby ran a half-marathon.  Because I was away, we had to have a babysitter come over very early this morning so Hubby could get to the race on time.  Here is his finisher’s medal.   Not sure why it appears to look like a fan, but it’s kind of neat looking.

October 24I went on a scrapbooking retreat weekend this weekend with some of my most wonderful girlfriends.  We use a die cutting machine called the Cricut (pronounced like “cricket”).  We have collected many different cartridges.  I took this shot of the Cricut table in our cropping room, which has many of the keypad overlays just waiting to be used.

October 23Friday night was the boys’ school fundraiser, which is a walk-a-thon.  They walk 5 laps around the school and had to raise pledge money.  Each of them raised $500 in donations (thanks to generous family members).  The child in each grade level who raises the most money wins a $50 bill.  Jacob won for kindergarten and Peter won for 2nd grade!  This extends Peter’s winning streak to 3 years in a row.  Thankfully, he is not in 4th grade.  The grade level winner (who was also the overall winner in the school) raised over $1300!

Well, “cold” might be taking it a bit far, but we recently enjoyed a cup of Hoth Chocolate.

October 22Tonight we celebrated the Owlz’ successful baseball season.  Coach Kirk called the boys up to the front in pairs to receive their trophies.  Jacob and Kade were first.  He called them “the Bruise Brothers” because they both had the misfortune to be hit by the ball multiple times this season!

Mismatch Day

October 21The boys’ school is doing “Red Ribbon Week” this week to encourage the children to stay away from drugs.  Each day has a different theme — Monday was “wear red” day, Tuesday was “hat day,” and Wednesday was “Mismatch Day.”  Peter and Jacob each wore striped shirts with plaid shorts and mismatched socks.  Frankly, it was difficult to look at them without getting a headache, so I chose this shot of just their feet.
